YEREVAN (Noyan Tapan)–President Kocharian met Wednesday with a delegation of pilgrims from the St. Hripsime Seminary from Lebanon which arrived in Armenia in connection with the 75th anniversary of the Seminary. The delegation includes the teachers and students of the Seminary as well as the students’ parents and representatives of the Armenian intelligentsia of Lebanon.
Congratulating the members of the delegation on the 75th anniversary of the Seminary–the president expressed his wish that similar visits should become routine. He highly appreciated the Seminary’s patriotic activities aimed at educating children in the Armenian spirit in the Diaspora.
The members of the delegation told the president that by their two-week pilgrimage they are concluding the celebrations of the 75th anniversary of the St. Hripsime Seminary. The managers of the Seminary said that from now on the students of the Seminary will be visiting Armenia every year to have closer ties with their homeland.
"Armenia must be a sacred homeland for each Armenian–and our common goal is to create a powerful Armenia and a powerful Diaspora," the president said. According to him–the Diaspora–which has a great potential–can and must play an important role in Armenia’s development and the Constitutional solution to the problem of dual citizenship.
