YEREVAN (Noyan Tapan)–Armenia is not ready today for complete transition to a majoritarian electoral system–said President Robert Kocharian at a Wednesday press conference. He said an interim option could be found via discussions with all influential forces in the country.
He refrained from assessing any electoral system. The president pointed out that "it would be correct to choose some compromising option instead of debating about the draft election codes in parliament." Kocharian said that it is very important that the influential parties try to come to an agreement regarding this matter.
"The most important thing is to organize really good elections," the president said.
