YEREVAN (Armenpress)–Alexander Tkachov–the Communist governor of Krasnodar in southern Russia–has once again pushed for deporting all illegal immigran’s from the region.
On June 5–while meeting with members of a delegation from the upper chamber of the Russian parliament–Tkachov said his administration was applying only legally allowed methods to regulate immigration-related problems.
"We do not want to become a kind of a corridor for all persons who break registration requiremen’s and naturally–they must be deported from the region," he told senior Moscow officials who came to look into allegations that Krasnodar administration was violating human rights of thousands of immigran’s.
Alexander Kazakov–head of the Kremlin delegation said that the region would be able to continue making progress if only the calm climate of friendship and good neighborly relations continued.
Kazakov praised Tkachov for handling the situation–assuring that the majority of delegation members were supporting his actions–which–the governor says–are aimed to bring order in the region in which each fifth person is an immigrant.
Last week an Armenian delegation was in Krasnodar and met with its administration in a bid to try to ease the tension that has erupted after an Armenian cemetery in Krasnodar was rampaged and tombstones were vandalized and destroyed.
Back in Yerevan–delegation members claimed they managed to convince the administration in Krasnodar that the almost 1 million Armenian community in the region was not a threat to local Slavs.
Members of the delegation said many local Cossacks were not happy with the business success of Armenia’s who are more active in business than local Slavs.
