YEREVAN (Noyan Tapan)–Kurds from several Armenian provinces joined their fellow-nationals in Yerevan Saturday in a new demonstration in support of PKK leader Abdullah Ocalan.
The crowd were carrying big portraits of Ocalan and transparencies demanding his release. Writer Karlene Chachane–a ‘Kurdistan’ Committee official–told his compatriots that the demonstration was heading for the US Embassy–Turkey’s ally–to demand that the Clinton Administration pressure Turkey to repeal the death sentence passed on Ocalan. The demonstrators then headed for the Greek Embassy to condemn the US country in aiding in Ocalan’s arrest.
PKK leader Abdullah Ocalan is known to have appealed the death sentence passed on him. The appeal court’s decision is due on October 21. However–the Turkish law-enforcers are making more and more revelations as the investigation continues to put down a series of new murders to Abdullah Ocalan.
