YEREVAN (Noyan Tapan)–Besides the "Lincy 1" construction program worth $5,000,000 and implemented by the American Red Cross–another program–"Lincy 2"–worth $15,000,000 will soon be launched–reported the Red Cross representative to Armenia. The Armenian government approved last week the expansion of the program on the funds given to the Red Cross. It should be noted that under the "Lincy 1" program eight residential buildings (128 apartmen’s) are under construction in Giumri–and seven buildings (110 apartmen’s) in Vanadzor.
Nine million dollars out of $15 million will be allocated to the Shirak region–with the remaining sum allocated to the Lori region. The program will be implemented in three stages. The first stage includes the construction of 14 residential buildings (232 apartmen’s) in Giumri and two buildings (44 apartmen’s) in Vanadzor. The second stage includes the construction projects in Spitak. The third stage will be specified by the American Red Cross and the Armenian government.
Head of the American Red Cross Armenia-based office Hail Hovard said that the "Lincy 1" construction program will be completed this fall–and the first and second stages of the "Lincy 2" program–in the fall of 2000.
