Los Angeles—As a result of recent, unprovoked attacks on Artsakh, Armenians both in the homeland and diaspora began organizing relief efforts, sending aid to the front lines, and even large scale enlistments throughout the country and abroad. Armenians contributed in whatever way they could: monetarily, morally and even through artistic expressions of support.
It was no surprise that local illustrator Arpi Kirkorian’s rendition of the iconic “We are our Mountains” monument (“Mamik and Babik”) went viral in support of Artsakh.
Krikorian then decided to use the positive response to the artwork as a vehicle to fundraise for the soldiers defending Artsakh by selling t-shirts with the image. Since April of this year, she has raised $3500 which she has donated to the Armenian Youth Federation’s “With Our Soldiers” campaign. She has also now added additional merchandise (mugs, tote bags and cell phone covers) with the same image, and will continue to donate a portion of the proceeds of the sale of those products as well to WOS. Merchandise can be viewed at: www.ArpiKrikorian.com.
The AYF’s ‘With Our Soldiers’ campaign, originally launched in 2012, was restarted in the aftermath of the Four Day War with the aim of providing assistance to the families of the fallen soldiers. To learn more about the campaign or to make a donation today, you can visit www.withoursoldiers.com.
