GLENDALE–Armenia Fund–Inc. and Armenia Fund USA recently announced the receipt of a contribution of $350,000 from Louise Manoogian Simone–a founding member of the Board of Governors of Hayastan All-Armenian Fund–to Telethon 2000 for the continued construction of Karabakh’s North-South "Backbone" Highway and the building of four schools in Armenia’s earthquake zone.
Simone–president of the Armenian General Benevolent Union–has participated in AFI’s Telethons since its inception in 1996. With AGBU’s extensive international humanitarian and cultural projects–Simone’s continued support of the Telethon signifies the importance of Hayastan-All Armenian Fund’s activities in rebuilding the necessary infrastructure for the growth and development of Armenia and Karabakh.

The eleven-hour international broadcast–Thursday–November 23–Thanksgiving Day–will air live in its entirety from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. (Pacific Standard Time) in several US cities–with the first five-hours being simulcast in Armenia–Europe–the CIS–the Middle East and the Persian Gulf.
Telethon 2000 will also be webcast–in full motion video–on www.armenianradio.com where Internet users can participate and make secure contributions online.
