YEREVAN (Noyan Tapan)–In the early summer of 1993–the Karabakh Army launched an offensive for the liberation of the Mardakert region–which were occupied by Azeri forces for about a year. Due to decisive and coordinated action–Karabakh soldiers took control of the regional center on June 27–1993.
A Grand Meeting of Mardakert townspeople–municipal officials and guests was held at a local theater to mark the sixth anniversary of the town’s liberation. The meeting paid tribute to the memory of perished heroes. The meeting also addressed post-war problems in the town.
The meeting was crowned with performances by local dance and song groups.
