YEREVAN (Noyan Tapan) — A delegation of the Armenian Energy Ministry led by Energy Minister Gagik Martirossian left yesterday for Iran–Deputy Energy Minister Karen Galoustian reported.
Martirossian is expected to meet with his Iranian counterpart and other top officials during the seven-day visit. The negotiations are expected to focus on the following four problems.
1. Resolution of organizational problems regarding the linkage of the two countries’ power systems.
2. Continuation and intensification of talks on the arrangement of the Iran-Armenia gas pipeline construction. (Galoustian said that the Iranian party decided to allocate funds under construction of the gas pipeline on its territory).
3. Holding talks on the possible supply of liquid gas to Armenia from Iran.
4. The consideration of technical–economic and legal aspects of hydroelectric power plant construction on the Arax River.
The Armenian delegation includes director of "Armgazprom," Roland Adonts–and director of "Armgozproject," Abraham Dallakian.
Martirossian and Galoustian are expected to attend an international gas conference to discuss prospects for regional cooperation which will be held on the Island of Kysh in the Persian Gulf. The conference will be attended by representatives of the gas industries of Iran–Russia–Armenia and European countries.
