GLENDALE–At the invitiation of the organizers of the Collesium Cup Soccer Tournamen’s–Armenia’s National Soccer Team will visit the United States in January of 2000. The National Soccer Team will be led by recently appointed head coach Varoujan Soukiasian.
Following a number of tournament games in the beach city of Oxnard in Ventura County–the National team member–a number of whom play for several professional teams and leagues–will take part in a firendly exhbition match against the Guatemala National Team–which is cosidered to be one of the strongest contenders in the FIFA Central American CONCACAF Federation.
This match will take place on Jan. 9.
In the qualifying rounds of the European continental tournamen’s Armenia registered a 3-0 victory against Andora. In addition–in a ranking of national teams issued by FIFA–Guatemala has been ranked 73rd–while Armenia has taken the 85th slot.
The exhibition match will take place at the Los Angeles Colliseum–starting at 4 p.m. Tickets for this match may be obtained from local Armenian stores at $20 for adults–and $10 for children 12 and younger.
Children under six will be admitted for free–and tickets for adults on the day of the match at the Colliseum will be $25–with rates for other categories remaining the same.
