YEREVAN (Yerkir)–NATO fully supports efforts of the OSCE Minsk Group for the resolution of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict and hopes that the parties will manage to reach an agreement, NATO Secretary General’s Special Representative for the South Caucasus and Central Asia Robert Simmons stated at a news conference in Yerevan. He said, the current format of talks does not need to be changed change. "The NATO is not a participant of the talks or a mediator. Direct assistance to the resolution of the Karabakh conflict is not a task for the NATO, however we are ready to provide any help to the parties," stressed Simmons. Wrapping up a trip to Armenia, Simmons said a wide variety of issues were discussed at the meetings in Yerevan. He also stressed the Alliance was content with cooperation with Armenia and Azerbaijan. Armenia’s Foreign Minister Vartan Oskanian said that a coordination group was created by President Robert Kocharian, to ensure normal work in all three directions. The documen’s on cooperation with the NATO, EU and CE were so extensive, that they demand a more individualized approach, he said.
