YEREVAN (Noyan Tapan)–Nazik Amirian–32–was appointed Head of the Republican Environmental Inspectorate–Ministry of Nature Protection. Until recently Amirian held the post of rear chief–deputy commander of military unit "N" within the system of the Defense Ministry.
Introducing the new chief to the Inspectorate staff on September 16–Ministry advisor Varuzhan Adamian said that the State Inspectorate should become a united body and be in firm hands so as to tackle environmental problems. Amirian has all the properties needed for the job. "Nazik served in during Karabakh hostilities and would not yield even an inch to the enemy," he said. It is noteworthy that Nazik Amirian is the wife of the renowned General Manvel Grigorian.
In an interview–Nazik Amirian said she could already imagine the immediate action in her new office. She said she will try to fit out the State Inspectorate with modern technical equipment and enlarge the legislative framework of the system functions. According to her–inspectors need to be provided with the essential means of transportation without which they cannot work effectively. There is also a shortage of computers. Amirian believes that the weak point in the work of the State Inspectorate is the inspectors’ limited powers–which often makes them resort to illegal means.
Amirian is going to submit the proposal on broadening the legislative framework for the State Inspectorate system to the government of Armenia. As for technical equipment–international organizations may also render assistance in the matter.
