YEREVAN (Noyan Tapan)–A new residential district for refugees will be built in Nor Artamet. The director of the "Armselstroi Project" LTD–the organization carrying out the construction–Varazdat Hovasapian said that the district would include 28 houses with a total dwelling space of 1,900 square meters. Hovasapian reported that the houses are currently being equipped with modern amenities. The interior decoration is expected to be completed in March.
Besides–Hovasapian said–the irrigation systems in the villages of Mkhchian and Berkanush of the Ararat region were put into operation last year. The construction of the systems was sponsored by the Irrigation Rehabilitation Project’s Implementing Unit. The irrigation system of the village of Mkhchian is five kilometers long. The World Bank allocated $50,000 for the construction of the system for irrigating about 150 ha. The construction of the 2-kilometer-long irrigation system of the village of Berkanush cost $55,000.
