YEREVAN–(Noyan Tapan)–During the meetings with European Union officials–the Armenian delegation managed to prove that at present–in conditions of lack of alternative sources of electricity in Armenia–the shutdown of the Armenian Nuclear Power Plant is inexpedient and may cause serious problems–Armenia’s Minister of Energy Karen Galustian said in an interview.
The minister stressed the need for EU assistance if the NPP is shut down and said that during the meetings with EU representatives no specific dates of the shutdown were discussed. According to Galustian–the date will be specified later on–after the development of technical–financial and investment programs of the energy sphere.
