Azerbaijani forces continued to violate the ceasefire, opening fire on Armenian positions in Armenia and Artsakh and injuring a soldier of the Armenian Armed Forces.
A soldier of the Armenian Armed Forces suffered gunshot wounds on Tuesday evening when Azerbaijani forces opened fire on Armenian military positions.
“On November 29, around 5:50 p.m., in the Armenian military position located in the eastern part of the Armenian-Azerbaijani border, an Armenian serviceman received gunshot injury as a result of enemy fire,” said Armenia’s Defense Ministry spokesperson Aram Torossyan, who added that the soldier was not in danger.
Azerbaijani forces continued the shelling of the Armenian border positions on Tuesday night when at 11:10 p.m. local time the same area was subjected to enemy fire.
At around 6:10 p.m. local time Azerbaijani forces opened fire at Artsakh positions on the eastern and northeastern sections of the line-of-contact. No casualties were reported.
In both instances, the Azerbaijani defense ministry accused Armenia of shelling its positions. The Armenian and Artsakh armies have denied the claims as misinformation.
The Russian defense ministry on Tuesday said Azerbaijan violated the ceasefire on Monday, as a result of which two soldiers of the Artsakh Defense Army were injured.
On Wednesday, the Azerbaijani defense ministry did not refute the conclusion by the Russian peacekeeping forces, however it called their actions “disdainful” for not using what Baku called the proper Azerbaijani names in addressing the ceasefire breach.
Azerbaijan’s defense ministry called the announcement regrettable and warned Moscow consequence if it continued to use “inaccurate wording in official communications.”
