YEREVAN (Noyan Tapan)–Armenia’s Foreign Minister Vartan Oskanian arrived in Sweden on an official visit–Wednesday. The same day–Oskanian met with his Swedish counterpart Anna Lind.
During the meeting the sides reportedly discussed the current level of bilateral relations and prospects of developing mutually advantageous cooperation. Oskanian informed the Swedish foreign minister of the current state of the Karabakh peace process and possible developmen’s in this process.
The two ministers also discussed possibilities of developing cooperation within the framework of various international organizations–taking into account the fact that Sweden will take over the rotating chairmanship of the European Union in January 2001.
Oskanian held a meeting with B. Dahle–the Speaker of the Swedish Parliament–and G. Andresson–the State Secretary on International Development–Thursday. Later–Oskanian delivered a lecture dealing with regional affairs at the Institute of International Relations of Sweden.
The same day–the Armenian delegation and Armenian businessmen took part in the Armenia-Sweden business forum–during which they discussed programs on economic cooperation. In the evening–the Armenian delegation met with representatives of the local Armenian community.
Minister Oskanian is due to leave for Finland–Thursday.
