YEREVAN (Armenpress)–The Armenia parliament started consideration of the 2000 draft budget presented by finance and economy minister Levon Barkhudarian.
The draft budget projects 201.8 billion Drams as budget revenues–a 3% increase from 1999. The expenditures are projected at 254.1 billions Drams–a 2.2% increase. The budget deficit is projected at 52.3 billions Drams.
The government foresees a 6% economic growth for 2000.
Barkhudarian said no serious changes in tax policy are expected in the upcoming two years. He said the tax system will be clarified with the aim of fostering small and medium businesses. He assured that the government is working out a special program for this sector of economy.
