YEREVAN (Noyan Tapan)–Issues of deepening Armenian-Finnish intergovernmental and interpaliamentary relations became the subject of discussion during the visit of an Armenian delegation headed by Armenian National Assembly Chairman Armen Kachatrian.
During a conversation with Chairman of the Finnish Parliament Rita Yusukaynen–Chairman Kachatrian–touching upon the issue of economic cooperation–especially mentioned the successes of Armenia in the sphere of high technologies–jeweler’s art–the cutting of diamonds and agriculture–which will give vast possibilities for effective cooperation. Khachatrian assured that Armenia is the most stable country in the region of the South Caucasus and the most favorable for investmen’s from the point of view of legislation.
The Armenian parliamentary delegation held a meeting with the leadership of the Finnish firm (the largest company in Europe) producing the "Valio" milk and dairy products–as well as visited the "Vaco" electrotechnical equipment manufactory in the town of Vassa. Prospects of cooperation were discussed.
The importance of holding business forums and the cooperation of the two countries’ chambers of commerce and industry was stressed during a meeting with Chairman of the Council of the Mayor’s Office of Helsinki Pekki Sauri.
