GLENDALE–Best selling author Giles Milton will be promoting his new book "Paradise Lost: Smyrna 1922" in a public lecture on September 29 at 6pm at the Glendale Police Department’s Community Room.
Milton will be sharing his views and thoughts about the subject of the book, which discusses the burning of the port city of Smyrna by Turkish forces and the massacres and the forced exodus of its Greek and Armenian inhabitants.

In Paradise Lost, Milton draws on eyewitness accounts to render the Smyrna events in all their horror and ends with an almost incredible rescue led by an unlikely hero. Milton powerfully renders the tragic tale of an army that came to liberate Smyrna and instead massacred its citizens and burned their prize to the ground in a vengeful frenzy.

Event Information:
The public lecture, hosted by the Friends of the Glendale Public Library, will take place on Monday, September 29, 2008 at 6 pm in the Glendale Police Community Room located at 131 N. Isabel Street Glendale, California 91206.
