LOS ANGELES–Western Prelate Bishop Moushegh Mardirossian and the Prelacy Executive Council announced that the Prelacy has continued the publication of new textbooks–issuing two new textbooks of Armenian language and Armenian history during the past two weeks.
The textbooks will be available for the students and for all the Armenian schools in the 2001-2002 academic year. The new textbooks are the following:
Our History–for 9th grade. Authored by Garo Momjian–it includes the first period of Armenian history up to the expansion of the Russian Empire (beginning of 19th century) as well as historical geography of Armenia.
This textbook completes and concludes the Western Prelacy’s Armenian History series for grades four to nine grades and complemen’s the 10th–11th and 12th grade special Hai Tad textbook series authored by Dr. Roubina Peroomian.
Our Language–for 6th and 7th grades. Textbooks of language and grammar. Authored by Harutiun Kiurkjian.
These textbooks–aimed for middle school students are especially arranged to meet the needs and interests of students residing in the US.
The Our Language series will be completed in the near future with the addition of special textbooks for the 8th and 9th grades–the preparatory work for which have already begun. They will be available in 2002-2003 academic year.
The 5th grade "Our Language" textbook–authored by Arpi Shant and Liza Gaboudian–will be published and become available for the 2002-2003 academic year.
