LA CRESCENTA—Western Prelate Archbishop Moushegh Mardirossian and the Executive Council announced that the Western Prelacy has allocated a record amount of $800,000 to Prelacy Schools. This allocation will alleviate financial concerns of the schools brought on by global economic conditions. The first portion of this amount was distributed to Prelacy Schools prior to the New Year.
This allocation was made possible by generous donations received at the Pontifical Banquet in honor of His Holiness Catholicos Aram I during the Pontifical Visit of October. The Prelacy also announced that a fund for its Schools will be established at the Prelacy with a portion of the allocation. “We are confident that this fund will grow year by year with the contributions of our faithful community,” said an announcement by the Prelacy.
“We are pleased also that on the occasion of the Pontifical Visit of His Holiness, we were able to secure substantial support for the Catholicosate Seminary, our Prelacy, and our Churches, specifically Holy Cross Cathedral of Montebello, St. Gregory Church of San Francisco, Holy Trinity church of Fresno and St. Garabed Church of Las Vegas, for which we once again thank our sponsors and donors,” concluded the announcement.

the prelacy should also halt the monthly ‘dues’ paid to them from the churches as well. churches have to pay thousands of dollars each month to support the prelacy. they too, are suffering from the economic troubles. you can do the math; a few thousand dollars multiplied by the number of churches in the prelacy monthly! how much money do you think the prelacy needs monthly to make ends meet?
