YEREVAN (Noyan Tapan)–Armenia’s Presidential Political Council–a grouping of political parties in the country working alongside the executive branch–approved the document Thursday evaluation the previous regime in Armenia.
During a press conference Thursday–Political Council Executive Secretary Hrant Khatchatrian stated that in the final evaluation found "the political course of the previous regime ignored national concerns and rejected such concepts as national ideology–which resulted in the adoption of wrong approaches. This resulted in severe mistakes–not corresponding to national interests and create obstacles in the establishment of lawful state."
The Armenian Republican Party–the Yerkrapah Union of Volunteers–the Socialist Forces Organization–the Armenian Revolutionary Federation–Armenia’s National Youth Council–the Armenian Democratic League of Armenia (Ramkavar party) and the Shamiram party all approved the document–with the latter submitting some misgivings in writing.
The Scientific–Industrial and Civil Union of Armenia–the Armenian Democratic Party rejected the proposal–with the Constitutional Rights Union abstaining in the voting process.
The opponents of the measure stated that the policies previous regime contained anti-national ideology–and was anti-democratic. The group said the former administration’s policies aimed at dismantling the country’s state–political and social structures.
"The masterminds and implementors of this policy can be deemed anti-national forces and we demand their punishment by law," the opponents of the evaluation stated.
The common conclusion in the two drafts was that political and social order would come about with new elections.
Khatchatrian said that the Political Council would begin drafting a document on National Accord.
