YEREVAN (Noyan Tapan)–Prime Minister Andranik Margarian met with Russian Minister of Atomic Energy Yevgeny Adamov on October 23. Yegveny Adamov–who is also the Chairman of the Commission on the Peaceful Use of Nuclear Energy–presented the course of the work of the Armenian-Russian Intergovernmental Economic Commission’s meeting currently being held in Yerevan.
During the meeting the sides reportedly discussed issues of mutual interest within the framework of a strategic partnership–in particular the establishment of a Russian-Armenian joint venture in the field of power engineering–reduction of prices for energy sources imported from Russia–restructuring of Armenia’s debt to Russia–and reception of a joint loan for the "Caucasus Port" JV. The two also discussed Russia’s possible assistance in the matter of completing the repairs of the building of the Slavonic University of Armenia and the meeting of the Armenian-Russian Intergovernmental Economic Commission due to be held in Moscow on December 17-19.
