ANTELIAS–Lebanon–The first secretary of the Iranian Embassy in Lebanon accompanied by the Ayatollah I. Taskhiri–the brother of Iran’s Islamic Orientation International Relations director Ayatollah Muhamad Ali Taskhiri–paid a visit to His Holiness Aram I–Catholicos of the Holy See of Cilicia Wednesday and delivered letters to the Catholicos on behalf of Iranian President Ali Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani and Iranian Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Velayati.
The letter conveyed the Iranian leaders’ respects to Catholicos Aram I and the Cilician Catholicosate.
During a meeting with Iranian Embassy officials–the upcoming visit to the Catholicosate by Ayatollah Muhamad Ali Taskhiri was discussed and Aram I conveyed the Catholicosate’s plans for that visit scheduled in early June.
The Catholicos–once again–conveyed his condolences to the Iranian people on the recent Khorasan earthquake.
The Iranian representatives and the pontiff also addressed several issues of concern to the Iranian-Armenian community–as well as the expanding relations between the Cilician Catholicosate and the Islamic Republic of Iran.
