YEREVAN (Armenpress)–The Russian Federation will donate 3,000 tons of barley and 2,000 tons of grain to Armenian rural economies to overcome the aftermath of last summer’s drought. The drought has reportedly caused $100 million worth of damages to the Armenia’s agriculture.
The agreement was reached by Armenian agricultural minister Zaven Gevorgian and Russia’s ambassador to Yerevan Anatoly Dryukov.
In a similar development the United Methodist Committee on Relief has announced the release of 663 tons of seeds to the 77 most drought affected areas of in the province of Shirak at a price of 35 Drams per kilo–which is significantly lower than the market price.
