TEHRAN (Yerkir) – The Ambassador of Russia to Iran Alexandr Mariasov–visited the Armenian Prelacy in Tehran and met with The Armenian Prelate of Tehran Bishop Sebouh Sarkisian–members the Armenian group Iran’s Parliament–as well as representatives from the Alik daily newspaper.
Noting that the Iranian Armenian community is once again preparing to commemorate April 24 as a day of remembrance for the victims of the Armenian Genocide–Bishop Sarkisian expressed gratitude to the Russian Ambassador for the Russian Duma’s official recognition of Armenian Genocide.
The Ambassador spoke about friendly relations between Russia and Armenia–stressing that there is room to expand political–economic and cultural relations even further.
In a private meeting with Armenian member of Iran’s parliament Levon Davtian–Ambassador Mariasov discussed recent regional developmen’s–and the stance of Iran and Russia on these matters.
Former delegate representing northern Iranian Armenia’s in Iran’s parliament Vartan Vartanian–and Armenian Embassy advisor Edvard Ghumashian also attended the meeting.
