MOSCOW (ArmRadio)—The Russian Co-Chair of the OSCE Minsk Group, mediating the Nagonro-Karabakh conflict, will be retiring from his post next year, the Azeri Trend.az website reported on Thursday.
The Minsk Group, headed by the US, Russia, and France, has been managing the Karabakh peace talks between Armenia and Azerbaijan since the early 90s.
“Last year I said that I hope to leave my position as a Minsk Group co-chair soon. But, as you can see, it did not happen in 2009,” Yuri Merzlyakov said.
“I intend and hope that I will be allowed to leave this position on the seventh year of service as Russian Co-Chairman of OSCE Minsk Group. I think it will happen in 2009,” Merzlyakov said.
Why not let me to take Yuri Merzlyakov’s position at Mins’s Group, I will tell the Turks and Azeris where to go!
