GYUMRI (Armenpress)–A Russian Consulate General will open in Armenia’s second largest city of Gyumri sometime this year. The consular division of the Russian embassy in Yerevan has been traveling to Gyumri on a regular basis in recent years to conduct consular affairs. Vladimir Khryulov–head of the consular division–said efforts were underway in locating a suitable building for the consulate.
Khryulov said Armenian citizens traveling to Russia are allowed to carry Armenian forms of identification–and invitations are not required. Armenian citizens will not be asked to provide any official interpretation of their identification. However–Armenian tourists will have to register with Russian authorities after three days of their stay in Russia. All documen’s presented must bear the official stamp of either the Armenian Foreign Ministry or the Justice Ministry due to a large volume of bogus documen’s and identification forms.
