YEREVAN (Armenpress)–The speaker of Armenian National Assembly Armen Khachatrian and the leaders of the NA’s factions and groups met yesterday with a Russian delegation led by the deputy head of Russian President Vladimir Putin’s administration–Vladislav Surkov. Russia’s ambassador to Armenia–Anatoly Drykov and Armenia’s ambassador to Russia–Armen Smbatian also attended.
Welcoming the delegation–Khachatrian said that visits by representatives of friendly countries only strengthen development of relations. He said that unlike political relations–economic relations are still not developed–and stressed the establishment of joint enterprises to increase of volume of production–therefore–consumption. The meeting also attached great importance to inter-parliamentary cooperation and cooperation between the internal structures of the two countries.
Emphasizing the importance of harmonious development of political and economic relations–Surkov said that all pre-requisites for economic development exist–but said it is necessary to establish relations between the parties and public organizations of the two countries.
As a member of the Russian delegation–the governor of Russia’s Krasnodar region Alexander Tkachov stated that put an end to periodical anti-Armenian riots in the southern Russian region (see article below).
