YEREVAN (Armenpress)–Russian Vice-Prime Minister Ilya Klebanov pledged new Russian investmen’s in the Armenian economy while talking to reporters upon arriving on a three-day visit to Armenia.
Klebanov–who is the co-chairman of the Russian-Armenian intergovernmental commission for economic cooperation said Russian investmen’s in Armenia would be high on the agenda of president Putin’s visit to Armenia–scheduled for September.
He said one of the goals of this visit was to once again discuss all the details of Putin’s visit to Yerevan. "We are getting ready to real integration of our economies and we have to solve an extensive range of questions related to it," he said–adding this was a priority for both countries.
Klebanov also described Russian-Armenian political ties as ideal–adding that relations in other areas were also on a high level.
According to Armenian government–Klebanov will visit the center of Armenian copper and molybdenum industry in the remote Armenian region of Meghri–bordering upon Iran. Upon his return to Yerevan–Klebanov will visit Mars plant and then will meet with his counterpart in the commission–Armenian defense minister Serzh Sarkisian. Klebanov will finalize his visit by meeting respectively with Armenian prime minister–president and the head of the Church.
Klebanov also stated that Russia wants to participate in the construction of Iran-Armenia gas pipe-line and this issue will be discussed during the meeting with Armenian president and prime-minister. During the press conference at the Zvartnots Airport–answering the reporters question on the results of discussions concerning the pipe-line construction–Klebanov said that this issue will be discussed also with members of Russian-Armenian intergovernmental economic committee.
According to him–this project is important mainly for Armenian economy. "We do not hide that ?Gazprom’ will participate in this project’s realization," he said.
