LOS ANGELES–Over 150 Homenetmen members gathered Wednesday–December 21 at the Garabedian Hall in Los Angeles to celebrate Christmas and New Year. Organized by the Homenetmen Regional Executive Committee–attending the event were the Chapter Executives and Regional Staff–Council and Committee members. Also present were the Central Executive members Mher Tavitian–and a special guest the 30th Navasartian Exemplary Homenetmen Member Lilit Baghdasarians.
Sako Garabetian Regional Executive Committee Vice-Chairman welcomed the guests by wishing everyone a Happy New Year and a Merry Christmas. After dinner Regional Executive Chairman Raffy Ispendjian welcomed all the members and took the opportunity to introduce the Regional Executive Vice Chairman Sarkis Garabetian–Secretary Moneh Der-Grigorian–Treasurer Oshin Harootoonian–Athletic Representative Vicken Apelian–Scouting Representative Zareh Movsessian–Communications Representative Salpi Jejeian–HTV Representative Nora Tchaparian–Public Relations Representative Aram Chobanian–Accounting Representative Armand Kilijian–Advisor Vartkes Shekherdemian. He also introduced all the Regional Athletic and Scout Councils–Educational–Marching Band–HTV–Data Management and the 31st Navasartian Committee chairman Vahagn Thomasian and thanked all the chapter representatives for attending the event. Ispendjian presented a small gift to the Homenetmen Regional Staff who work very hard all year behind the scenes. Staff members include Aram Ananian–Arpi Ananian–Rubina Djansezian–Sevag Garabetian–Mike Zezaghian–Norayr Tahmasian–Maro Keshishian and Koko and Bedig Sarkissian from HTV. In conclusion Raffy thanked Salpi Jejeian and her team of volunteers who made the holiday party a special event.
On behalf of the Homenetmen Central Committee Mher Tavitian thanked the Regional Executive for bringing together all chapter members under one roof. He commented that he is very proud of the Western Region and its growing membership. He also thanked all the chapter Executives–committee members and volunteers for making 2005 a very successful year.
Later–Nora Tchaparian and Sako Garabetian facilitated a game of "Why/because" game. The room was split into two–one side wrote a questions and the other side wrote an answer. The questions and answers were read at random and room was full of laughter–it could not have been scripted any better.
The surprise of the night was a special visit by Santa–members from each chapter were asked to join Santa and read their Homenetmen wish list. The friendly Santa was very generous with granting all the chapters their wishes. The night concluded with a group photo with Santa. "It was a fun evening–enjoyed by all–it felt like a big Homenetmen family reunion" said Ispendjian "it is very important for us to have our chapter members interact in social settings."
