“If up until a few hours ago Gakavig was the result of my personal vision and desire, starting from now it belongs to all of us here and to the entire Armenian community and it must be everyone’s responsibility to safeguard this magazine and help in it’s growth and enhancement.”

–Juliette Davtian, Remarks made on the premier of Gakavig

A month has passed since “Gakavig” entered into the existence of the Armenian community of Los Angeles. We are glad to announce that in the next coming days the community will have the chance to be introduced to the second issue of “Gakavig.”

“Gakavig” being the first and the only publication in its kind in the United States, is hopeful will be able to fill the gap that Armenian parents and educators have felt for some time.

During the last month the main objective of the management has been to introduce “Gakavig” and its mission to the Armenian as well as Public schools of the community. A number of schools recognizing the importance of a children’s magazine in a child’s upbringing as a human being in general and as an Armenian individual per se have shown a great amount of enthusiasm and warm support for which we would like to express our sincere gratitude. This is only the beginning and in time every educator in the Armenian community realizing the importance of such an undertaking like “Gakavig” will do their utmost to partake in the conservation and protection of the publication.

The management also expressed gratitude to those members of the community which believed in “Gakavig”’s mission and has not conceal their enthusiasm and subscribed to the publication, at once.

Davitian also thanked magazine designer Tikran Tashjian as well as musician Alla Hayk who on monthly basis will be contributing a new and exclusive children’s song to “Gakavig.”

Gakavig is a colorful monthly intended for 3 to 7 year olds. The magazine has colorful artwork and features stories, poems, riddles, songs, cut-and-paste projects, children’s cooking projects, a bit of science, and more. Using classical Armenian spelling, the magazine is in both Eastern and Western Armenian.

Gakavig is available through several Armenian schools and in Southern California grocery stores. Subscriptions are available by calling 1-818-548-2438 or writing gakavig@gmail.com. The publication accepts and appreciates financial and moral support.
