YEREVAN (Noyan Tapan)–Georgian President Edward Shevardnadze is scheduled to arrive in Yerevan today where he is expected to sign 12 agreemen’s mainly regarding the joint protection of borders.
Last June–Georgia and Armenia’signed nine documen’s–four of which were judicially related.
During last year’s meeting–the two sides stressed the importance of solving their economic problems by signing an agreement aimed at the further development of agriculture and investment protection.
Shevardnadze will have a meeting with Levon Ter-Petrosyan immediately after his arrival.
Also–meetings are scheduled between the mayors of Yerevan and Tbilisi–Parliament Speaker Babken Ararktsian and the Georgian delegation and Prime Minister of Armenia Robert Kocharian and Georgia’s State Minister Niko Lekishvili.
A reception to honor Shevardnadze will take place later in the day. On Saturday–the final day of the visit–a ceremony celebrating the signing of the agreemen’s will take place.
