YEREVAN (A1 )–Armenia’s Pyunik soccer team tied with Ireland’s Derry City team 0-0 Thursday in the 2007-2008 Championship League match in Ireland. The meeting proved that the Armenian team did not yield to the opponent.
Hamlet Mkhitaryan’s return to the team during the rematch will be timely because a leading footballer like Hamlet should be present at the meeting and be an example for his colleagues.
Mauro Gevgeozyan from Uruguay was playing for the first time with the Armenian team. Of course, one meeting is not enough to assess a player, but it was obvious that Mauro was not playing better than our local footballers.
Former Armenian Champions the Banants hosted Swiss Young Boys Thursday at the Republican Stadium within the framework of the UEFA Cup try-outs.
“Our opponents enjoy a higher rating among football fans,” said Banants’ lead player Ara Hakobyan.
“It is well-known that Young Boys’ ability is above the ordinary. The team is really worth respect and admiration. Our sportsmen watched the team’s matches,” added Hakpyan.
