YEREVAN—Swiss coach Bernard Challandes, 62, will head the Armenian National Team, the President of the Football Federation of Armenia Ruben Hayrapetyan announced Friday, according to Public Radio of Armenia.
Challandes has managed the Swiss National Under-21 soccer team, FC Zürich, and a host of other Swiss teams – including Servette, Young Boys, and FC Sion – in his almost 40-year career as a soccer manager.
Challandes was chosen by the Football Federation of Armenia from 40 candidates under consideration. Challandes will arrive in Armenia on March 1.
The Armenian National Team’s next game is a friendly match against Russia on March 5.
