ARF Parliament Leader Meets with U.S. Representatives, East Coast Communities
Armen Rustamian, a leading member of the Armenian Revolutionary Federation’s Supreme Council in Armenia is touring East Coast Armenian-American communities visiting with congressional and other U.S. government representatives, announced the ARF Eastern US Central Committee. Rustamyan is also a member of Armenia’s National Assembly, serving as chairman of its Standing Committee on Foreign Relations. During his visit, he will discuss a wide range of issues tied to Armenia’s foreign policy and will reiterate the ARF’s continued opposition to the Armenia-Turkey protocols.
Jewish Leaders Throughout Community Denounce Essel Mailer
Rabbi Abraham Cooper, the associate dean of the Simon Wiesenthal Center, called on City Council Candidate Christine Essel to apologize Monday following a mailer she sent out that shockingly used Holocaust and skinhead imagery to depict her opponent, Paul Krekorian, as an anti-semite, the Krekorian campaign reported.
International Conference on Lemkin Held at CJH
The Center for Jewish History On Sunday November 15 hosted an international conference titled “Genocide and Human Experience: Raphael Lemkin’s Thought and Vision,” featuring 13 internationally renowned scholars of both genocide and of the life and legacy of Raphel Lemkin.
‘Ararat 7’ Climbs Mount Ararat
A group of Homenetmen Ararat members and parents got together in May and formed a hiking team to climb Mount Ararat. The team was named “Ararat 7″ for the number of people on the team. It took four months to make the travel arrangements, hire a guide, and train physically for the climb. The team flew to Yerevan and drove through Georgia to get to the City of Dogubeyazit in Turkey near the slope of Mount Ararat.
