Talin Yacoubian Appointed Chair of AGBU Western District

Talin Yacoubian
LOS ANGELES—AGBU Central Office is pleased to announce the appointment of Talin Yacoubian as chair of the Western District Committee of the United States. Her two-year term began on January 1, 2015.

Yacoubian has practiced law since 1993 and is active in a number of civic, bar and charitable organizations. She serves on the board of the Armenian Assembly of America, AGBU Hye Geen and the Armenia Fund and is the co-chair of the Armenian Genocide Centennial Commemorative Committee. In 2013, she was appointed to serve as a civil service commissioner for the City of Glendale in California.

Yacoubian is a partner and founding member of Yacoubian & Powell LLP, where she represents clients in transactional, environmental, intellectual property and business litigation matters. She began her career at Glaser Weil in Los Angeles and managed her own practice, Yacoubian Law Offices, from 2002 to 2009. She is married to Varuj Babikian and has two children, Alec and Aleen.

Also appointed to serve the Western District Committee under Yacoubian’s leadership are: Vazken Gourdikian, advisor; Saro Kotoyan, treasurer; Lucy Martirosian, advisor; Tzoler Sagherian, secretary; Hagop Sepetjian, vice chair; Lucy Varpetian, advisor, and Shahan Yacoubian, advisor.

Established in 1906, AGBU is the world’s largest non-profit Armenian organization. Headquartered in New York City, AGBU preserves and promotes the Armenian identity and heritage through educational, cultural and humanitarian programs, annually touching the lives of some 400,000 Armenians around the world.
