Alexis Ohanian graduated from University of Virginia in the USA in 2005. He co-founded Reddit.com with a roommate and watched it to become one of the World Wide Web’s most striking examples of democracy in action. He sold it to Condé Nast in 2006. Alexis then founded Breadpig.com, an “uncorporation” that’s responsible for bringing geeky things into the world like and donating all the profits. In November 2009 Alexis Ohanian was invited to attend TED conference, where he presented “the positive impact of social media on solving various issues”. He contributed actively to securing the TEDx Yerevan event license.
About TEDx
In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.
