YEREVAN–Six teams from Western United States Homenetmen arrived in Armenia Wednesday–to participate in the Second Pan-Armenian Games–which will officially open on Saturday at the Hrazdan Stadium of Yerevan.
Four more teams from the Armenian General Benevolent Union will join them–making a total of ten teams from Western United States.
The teams are accompanied by Razmig Arisian–the Sports Executive of Homenetmen’s regional administration and Hagob Sebetjian–a Homenetmen representative.
The teams participating in the games–represent the cities of their residence. The Homenetmen A division juniors and ladies soccer and basketball teams as well as ladies volleyball teams are from Los Angeles–while the juniors basketball and volleyball teams the city of Glendale. The Women’s A division basketball and volleyball teams represent the city of Pasadena and the juniors basketball and soccer teams are from the San Fernando Valley.
The Homenetmen Regional Administration created a committee responsible for the preperation of the games–earlier this year–headed by Razmig Arisian and includes Ela Vardanian–Sergo Ashigian and Shant Chopanian–who have also contributed greatly during the weekly training processes. Hopefully the enthusiastic atmosphere within the region and the competing teams in particular will help them to participate successfully and win in Armenia.
