Three Armenians Elected to Romania’s Parliament

BUCHAREST, Romania— Three ethnic Armenians have been elected as members of the Chamber of Deputies (lower house) of the Romanian Parliament during the country’s parliamentary elections on December 11.
Simion Lucian-Eduard was nominated by the Social-Democratic party and is a first-time elect as a Member of Parliament. He has chaired a local branch of the Armenian Union of Romania.
Pambuccian, since 1996, has headed the Minority party in the Romanian Parliament, as well as the Commission for Information Technology and Communications of the Romanian Chamber of Deputies. He also received a PhD in Mathematics from the University of Bucharest.
Vosganian has served as the Romania’s Minister of Economy and Commerce and as a Senator twice in the early nineties, and is currently a part of the National Liberal Party.
From 1990-1996, Vosganian was chairperson of the political party, Armenians’ Union of Romania.
Pambuccian nominated by the Armenian Union of Romania, Vosganian nominated by the list of the Alliance of Liberals and Democrats for Europe (ALDE).
