YEREVAN (Noyan Tapan)–As a result of the operative-investigation measures of the Ministry of National Security–three Georgian citizens – Zaza Vardasanidze–Yana Khutsishvili and Arkady Chobanyan – were arrested on Saturday in Armenia. They had a total of $16,600 in fake $100 bonds–which were discovered and confiscated.
According to the public relations department of the ministry of national security–they were caught as a result of an investigation into that the members of the indicated criminal group who transferred fake money totaling $18,900 in a hiding-place made in a book from Georgia to Armenia with the purpose of realizing fake bonds in the republic on January 24. In particular–they purchased gold wares worth $2,000 from Artyusha Manukyan at the Vernisage capital fair and also gave a $100 bond to pay for telephone conversations they had at the Yerevan Central Point of International Telephone Conversations.
The criminal case on the first part of article 82 of the Criminal Code is brought on this fact (fake and fabrication of money). The Ministry of National Security’s Investigation Department will further investigate the case.
"Making of fake state treasure tickets–tickets of state banks–metal coins–state securities or foreign currency are dangerous crimes–which undermine the economy of the country," wrote the ministry in their report on this case.
