YEREVAN (Noyan Tapan)–The trial of Seyran Arustamian–Andrey Avsharian and Arayik Vardanian–the defendants in the case of the assassination attempt on the NKR President’s life–took place on June 9. These were not immediate participants in the attack and therefore were charged on counts envisaging punishment for theft and illegal arms storage. Earlier–they all had said they wouldn’t be needing the services of lawyers. Seyran Arustamian pleaded not guilty of any of the charge brought against him.
Even though the public prosecutor demanded two-year imprisonment for each of the defendants–in the end the court sentenced all the three to one year in prison to be served in a reformatory of common regime.
