YEREVAN—Turkey’s vehement reaction to the Vatican’s Holy Mass commemorating the Armenian Genocide is not surprising, according to Giro Manoyan, the political affairs director of the Armenian Revolutionary Federation-Dashnaksutyun (ARF).
“The world is speaking of [the Armenian Genocide], so Turkey is now left alone,” he told Tert.am, commenting on the Holy Mass served by Pope Francis at St Peter’s Basilica.
The ARF leader said he is not surprised at all by Turkey’s “panic-stricken” steps ahead of the tragic anniversary.
“The liturgy was important not only because the Pope said what he said and referred to it as the 20th century’s first genocide but also because they easily opened the floor to the Armenian church’s Supreme Patriarchs who heartily conveyed the Armenian nation’s sentiments and thoughts to the entire world,” Manoyan noted.
Not wishing to single out the Mass from the number of other ceremonies dedicated to the centennial, Manoyan said he thinks that all the events put together would have a greater impact rather than taken separately. “So, I don’t think it is quite right to speak about the impact of separate events, because it is part of the general wave that exerts quite a big pressure on Turkey,” he said.
Asked whether that wave is likely to break Turkey’s denial policies, the politician said he doesn’t expect a groundbreaking development within a short period. “I don’t think their position will change in just a day’s time – not under the current authorities –given the political developments,” he said, referring to the upcoming parliamentary elections in Turkey.
But Manoyan admitted that Turkey is facing great pressure by world countries.
Manoyan said he expects the pressure to increase even further against the backdrop of the commemoration events in Armenia ahead of April 24. “We will succeed because we raise the question of truth and justice as opposed to their denial and lies,” he said.
Turkey is much closer to you than the rest of the world!!!
And may be they are now planning a new big, fat “Tseghaspanutyun”.
Would you take responsibility for other Armenians lives?

Turkey must repent! The Turkish people must force their government to repent for her crimes. Shame on Turkish leaders.
