ANKARA—The Turkish Foreign Ministry protested Thursday a law adopted by the Cypriot government criminalizing the denial of the Armenian Genocide.
“The Greek-Cypriot administration’s decision is null and void for Turkey and not worthy of comment,” Turkish Foreign Ministry spokesman Tanju Bilgic complained.
“It is without doubt that those who try to exploit the 1915 incidents at every opportunity by using simple political ambitions, cannot get any result,” Bilgic said hours after the Cypriot parliament passed the law.
The Cypriot law comes at a time when Armenians worldwide are preparing to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide.
The law, backed by all political parties represented at the Cypriot parliament, imposes five years imprisonment or a fine of up to $10,000 on those who deny the Armenian Genocide.
Turkey instead of protest should join Cypriot and do the same
If the Cypriot law is null and void for turkey why even address it with a comment? Is it because as criminals your conscious is being disturbed
Who cares that they protest?
Who cares Turkey’s protest, Genocide perpetrators neve admit their guilt it is the world that condemns the Genocide perpetrator
Turkey’s stupid Foreign ministry spokesman should have never mentioned about Cyprus Armenian genocide denial law, if it was not worthy, for Turkey! Spokesman should have known better, that Turkey’s bid, for EU membership, Cyprus approval as an active EU member will be counted as well!
