BAKU (Trend)–Turkey’s Foreign Minister Ali Babajan said on Monday that his country supports the Minsk Group’s efforts to mediate between Armenia and Azerbaijan for a settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.
“We support a peace settlement with the co-chairmanship of the United States, Russia and France,” Babacan said at a press conference in Ankara Monday.
The Minister said Azerbaijan’s President Ilham Aliyev and Armenia’s President Serzh Sarkisian meet for talks in June. Babacan hoped for progress to result from the negotiations.
“The Demographic structure of the region and the events which have taken place in recent years must be taken into account during the conflict resolution process," Babacan said, adding that his government hopes Armenia and Azerbaijan will achieve an agreement.
