Turkish parliamentary committe of foreign affairs chariman Volkan Bozkir

BAKU (APA)—The Armenia-Turkey protocols will not be ratified by Turkey, the chairman of the Turkish parliamentary committee of foreign affairs said during press conference Monday.
“I am one of those responsible for the ratification of these documents, and I can say that they will not be ratified,” said committee chairman Volkan Bozkir who has led a Turkish parliamentary delegation to Azerbaijan.
The Turkish parliamentary delegation visit is the first since a new parliament took office earlier this year. The delegation laid a wreath at Haydar Aliyev’s gravesite and visited the Alley of Martyrs and Turkish Martyrs memorial.
The delegation was warmly greeted by Azeri president Ilham Aliyev, who stressed the importance of this visit by the delegation.
Aliyev voiced confidence that the visit by the Turkish parliamentary delegation would be successful, adding that friendly and fraternal relations between the two countries cover all spheres.

Turkey is not sure on Armenia’s real intentions, they feel should they ratify the protocol and Armenia don’t than they will loose their friendship with Azerbaijan, otherwise it is a dream come true to sign this Protocol, since he has a lot to gain and nothing to loose.

    Why should?‎
Turkey is able anytime to use the protocols against Armenian Diaspora and beside this even ‎with closed borders Turkey is exporting to Armenia (mostly articles which Armenia could ‎easily produce with much better quality in Armenia and export them – if there were rule of ‎law and an healthy business environment and protection of investments! )‎
That is way a couple “Turkish businessmen” did travel to Yerevan, in order to allow Turkey ‎to go ahead with its PR campaign in future too! ‎

Did anyone in their right mind really expect that Turkey would ever ratify these protocols? It was always just an attempt by Turkey and the B.O. administration to divert attention from Genocide resolutions and save Obama from having to use the word “Genocide”, which he promised to do.
Of course, the reason those Genocide resolutions were popping up in the first place had nothing to do with Armenian interests. Rather, they have always been a way for certain powers to exert pressure on Turkey and keep it in check.
In any case, I always thought that the ARF’s response to these protocols was overkill, because these protocols never had a chance of becoming reality. It seemed ridiculous that the major reason the ARF started taking an anti-Serzh stance was initially due to these protocols, when other issues were probably much more important and pressing.
The protocols and the fuss around them have been very convenient for a lot of players. They benefited Obama, who had an excuse to not honor his pledge to call the “Medz Yeghern” a “Genocide”. They benefited Turkey by allowing it to divert attention from parliamentary resolutions around the world. I would even say they benefited Armenia by eventually making it look like the more mature country in the region, as it looked more willing than Turkey to reconcile with its neighbors. Last but not least, the protocols benefited the ARF because it gave it a new raison d’être in its staunch opposition to these protocols.
Of course we should all be against these protocols or any similar manifestations in the future. But the reality is that these protocols were never a real threat to anyone.

ARMENIA SHOULD HAVE NEVER RATIFIED THESE PROTOCOLS BECAUSE IN IT THERE WAS A CLAUSE WHICH RECOGNIZED EACHOTHERS PRESENT DAY BORDRERS.
THE EXISTING BORDERS WERE FORCED ON ARMENIA UNDER DURESS DURING 1921 AND THE INDEPENDENT ARMENIA SHOULD BRING THAT UP.
ARMENIANS WERE LIVING IN THESE TERRITORIES WAY BEFORE THE TURKS APPEARED.

Armenian diplomacy played its cards very well and now Turkey is left looking like a sore loser to the rest of the international community. Unfortunately opponents of the protocols didn’t have much oversight, there was a very clever game being played and the turks really caught the bait on this one.

Yes yes I have heard that before. Claver diplomacy should bring about political dividends to a country. Can you name one thing that Armenia has gotten back politically after this masterstroke of politically genius strategy by the Armenian government?
      name one beneficial result.
