ANKARA (Combined Sources)–A Turkish lawmaker, over the weekend, articulated the boldest threat yet in relation to the Armenian Genocide bill pending in Congress, by saying that Turkish authorities had the means to deport the thousands of Armenian citizens living in Turkey, 72 hours after Congress passes the resolution.
Member of the ruling Justice and Development Party Erol Aslan Jebeji also added that the passage of the resolution would “cause great harm to Armenia.”
Jebaji said that Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan was scheduled to travel to New York on Sept. 24, at which time he planned on addressing the Genocide resolution during meetings there.
In speaking about the recent change in the Anti-Defamation League’s position on the Genocide issue, Jebeji said: “We are worried about the recent media statemen’s about the ADL decision to change its position of the Armenian Genocide issue. But our theses are so powerful that the change of position of any organization cannot have any influence.”
