YEREVAN (Noyan Tapan)–At a June 24 court session of the Armen Ter-Sahakian case–defendant Gevorg Darbinian pleaded not guilty to any crime that was included into his indictment. He denied both his membership of the armed gang and participation in its meetings. He also said that he had never plotted crimes. Darbinian said he was unaware of murders and assaults and therefore couldn’t undertake any steps to conceal them. He refused to answer questions–including those asked by his defense attorney–since–according to him–his testimonies give answer to all questions. Darbinian also said he has been kept under illegal arrest for 5 months.
Defendant Marzpet Grigorian also pleaded not guilty to racketeering. He noted that there were no talks about murders in his presence and that he had no idea about a gang. According to him–he knew only that his cousin Armen Ter-Sahakian and his brother Alik Grigorian were working with the Interior Ministry. He assured that he kept a sack with arms–assault rifles–guns–sniper rifles–submachine gun–given to him by Ter-Sahakian. He said that he should have returned the arms to the boss on his first demand.
