YEREVAN (Noyan Tapan)–The UN Armenia Office–under the leadership of UN Resident Coordinator–UNDP Resident Representative Joel Boutrous–will finish the development of a cooperation program with Armenia for the coming years within the next 2-3 weeks. As Boutrous said during his April 10 meeting with Armenian Prime Minister Andranik Margarian–the program is quite comprehensive and covers numerous fields such as ecology–social–information technologies and elections. After the completion of this work–being carried out within the framework of interaction with corresponding structures and executives in these spheres–the program will be presented to the head of the Armenian government.
For his part–Prime Minister Margarian stressed the need for the correspondence of requiremen’s and criteria set by various international organizations to recipient countries. According to the him–this will make it possible to form an impartial idea about these countries and base on this estimation in further activities. Concerning the issue of coordination of international aid and a number of other matters–Margarian stressed the important role of the UN and expressed readiness to continue close cooperation with its structures.
According to the Government’s Information and Public Relations Department–the sides stressed the need for making the best user of the local potential in compiling programs.
