YEREVAN (Armenpress)–Armenian Prime-Minister Andranik Margarian met with the director of UNICEF mission in Armenia Bran’slav Zekich on Tuesday.
According to the government’s press office–after acknowledging the effectiveness of UNICEF’s efforts toward the solution of issues effecting children–the Prime Minister assured the director that the government is ready to support the mission’s activities to their fullest capabilities.
Bran’slav Zekich–thanked the Prime Minister–and said that the mission to prepare programs to be realized in Armenia during the next five years will be organized soon. These works will be completed by May of 2002 when the session of UN General Assembly dedicated to the children’s issues will be held. But before this session–a meeting of the representatives of various countries will be held in Stockholm in the end of November. UNICEF expects support from the Armenian government in organizing a national session and working out a program of events.
The director of the UNICEF mission also informed the Prime Minister that Armenia leads in the solution of children’s issues–specifically issues of health preservation and education.
Andranik Margarian once again confirmed that the Armenian government will support UNICEF’s activities as well as all the programs directed to the bringing up an educated generation in Armenia.
